Our gym is not equipped with fancy equipment, machines or juice bar. It’s also not a place where you can check yourself out in the mirror after each set or a place where you will hear the words “can I jump in” or how much can you bench ?
NLP originated on Staten Island in 2008 by Staten Islanders who understand that fitness isn’t about how big your biceps are….. that sounds crazy doesn’t it, especailly from a Staten Island gym.
Functional Movement and Performance is the emphasis of our training.
We are a timed based exercise gym meaning all of our workouts produce scores and your work capacity is thus observable, measurable and repeatable. This allows people to see their progress in black and white and you/we can always refer back to your scores to measure personal improvements. They are also a great tool to help the coaches scale and adjust each ROD properly when programing new RODs. They serve as a motivational tool as well; no one wants to look at their scores and see that they haven’t been improving regularly. This will serve to drive & motivate you to keep up with your personal goals. Additionally they will help you to set personal goals for your lifts and RODs.
BTW, ROD stands for “Routine Of the Day”.
We offer high intensity strength training in small group sessions that will humble anyone. The difficulty of our ROD is determined by how hard each member pushes themselves. Our members are every day people who are looking to get away from boring, inefective and stale workouts at local gyms and get in the best shape our their lives. This unique structure is what sets NLP apart from all other gyms on Staten Island.
