Everyone is an ATHLETE !!!

Ever had someone refer to you as an athlete and your first reaction is to correct them?

“I’m not an athlete. I just go to the gym so I can stay in shape and keep healthy,” you might say.

Well guess what?  That makes you an athlete!

We say frequently that athletes need to be dynamic. There’s no telling what will happen on their field. It’s unpredictable.

Isn’t that how one might also describe life?

Life is just as complex and dynamic as sport. It requires moms to scoop down and race to catch a toddler before they lunge off a step (talk about speed and agility training). It requires you to sprint for the bus, ferry or to beat the street light.  It requires dads to have the strength to carry heavy loads around the house.  And, by now most of us have particpated in one or more adventure races  such as the Spartan, Tough Mudder and High Rock Challenge.  Still think you’re not an athlete?

“Real life and recreation require a body that is prepared for instant changes in terrain or emergency situations,” according to Under Armour Combine 360.

“The demands of recreational pursuits like running, trail biking, hiking, adventure racing, mountain climbing, skiing are similar to sport. Athletes must be prepared and must be confident in their human machine. An athletic ‘I can do it’ attitude is critical and combined with an athletic body gives the adult athlete the physical confidence to take any challenges life has to offer.”

Have you heard of the phrase “when playing is your sport?” It’s adults that slogan is speaking to. Life should be fun. It should be like play.

“An adult athlete aspires to live a healthy & fun life and focuses on using their recreation time to the maximum. Whether it is pursuing competitive sports, exciting leisure activities or simply kick as workouts at NLP, the adult athlete needs a body that works. Continuing to build a strong and vital athletic engine allows the weekend warrior to live their life to the fullest.”
